First poop

Today was a monumental day for Moses: his first poop. We were really worried about it since he'd gone more than ten days without it, but the veterinarian said their "internal functions" can be slow developing, so we've been holding out hope that this day would come.

Moses remains calm as Mark demonstrates how the magic happens...

  1. That is just too cute, how Moses is on his back, holding on to your hand. What a good kitten he is!

Your blog posts and videos bring back such fond memories of the two kitten littermates that I raised from the time they were a week old. They had such problems with constipation that the vet recommended warm water enemas for both. He showed me how to do it using a small syringe (no needle) and a tiny rubber tube as small as a strand of spaghetti. When I gave the male, Teddy, his enema I had no idea it would work so fast. As soon as I removed the tiny rubber tubing he started pooping. It came out in a long grayish spiral; I called it the most evil soft serve machine ever. Anyway, when he was finished I set him down on the living room rug and he just kind of fell over on his side, he was so relieved (literally) and relaxed.

Thank you for starting this blog. It's made me smile and has brought back some happy and fun memories of my kittens. :-)

  2. A little mineral oil licked from your finger will help greatly with constipation as well.

  3. Usually a cotton ball wet with warm water rubbed on their bottom will stimulate the poo. Mimics what their Mom's do (she licks them there to help elimination).
