Learning to Walk

It's really more of a crawl, but he's getting somewhere!

And later that day, he's picking up speed!

  3. My mom rescued a cat last year, bottle fed and all just like Moses. It is now the meanest cat ever! Hisses at us and very temperamental, although he's only been shown love. It is sad as we are both cat lovers! Something about when they are not raised with other cats they lose the humility I guess that comes with needing to fend for yourself? The vet explained it better...anyway you'll have to post how his temperament is later, I'm curious as to how that works!

    1. That's VERY interesting. So this is the only cat you have? We're hoping that having an older "sister" (even though she's a dog) might help to keep Mo in line a little. Either way, it's a fascinating theory...we just hope Moses behaves a little better than how you describe! We'll keep you posted on how his demeanor develops!

    2. I found my cat in our backyard after his mom abandoned him there and he was only a few days old at the most maybe a week. We hand reared him like you did with Moses (syringe 1st and then bottle) and he is the most lovable cat ever. The house is no longer ours, it is HIS! :) We let him go outside but he never leaves the backyard. He always likes to be near whoever is in the house and is even comfortable around strangers. It was also extremely easy to "potty train" him: we just placed him in the litter box about 2 times and after that he picked it up and never had an accident.

  4. just wait, you'll be sleepin' and the lil guy'll run across your face at like 3 a.m. and you'll be like, 'remember how cute it was when he learned to walk' :-)

    1. John,
He's already getting there! He climbs up the bedspread (when it hangs down over the side of the bed) and LOVES to crawl across faces!

    2. Oh my gosh...I literally laughed out loud when I read John's comment. All three of my cats did that. One even liked to run head first into my face to wake me up. :)

  9. Just wanted to share that my youngest cat(almost 2 now) was bottle fed by some wonderful foster momma and she is very affectionate and loves her "brother"(who is almost 5) but she is a bit awkward. I have a feeling she was not properly socialized after doing some research. I'm sure Moses will turn out wonderfully!! He is just the most precious lil thing!!!

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, we've read the same thing several times. But at this point, as long as he's happy and healthy, we can deal with some social ineptness!

  11. Oh wow, so he was only about 10 days old when he started walking! At the end of April I found a stray momma in our yard with 5 babies, and they were at that stage - eyes open and just barely wobbling around... We started taking care of all 6 cats, feeding, socializing, deworming, the whole deal... We found good homes for 3 of them and ended up keeping the other 2 who are now the not-so-loved siblings of our 10-year-old cat LOL.
